Cryptocurrency as a Lesson in Metaphysics

In relation to my new book, Under a Libra God, I wanted to discuss something happening right now which is a pretty incredible demonstration of how the Universe actually works. As discussed in ULG, the Universe is built upon principles of mathematics, which is why math can be used to describe natural phenomena, but the mistake that most people make is that math does not only apply to physical nature but also metaphysical nature, wherein all events and occurrences in reality ARE ALSO governed by rational laws and mathematics, and we are not separate from those laws simply because we have agency, thought, language, and culture. It is also very easy to see these laws reflected in patterns of life and existence, which the discipline of astrology most closely accomplishes, since study of metaphysics has been largely abandoned since the time of Galileo, whom was an avid and active astrologer that recognized the connection between natural laws and events and occurrences, since they do in fact exist, where contemporary science and history immorally erases facts like Galileo was in fact an astrologer and studied astrology not only to understand physics but also metaphysics, where this erasure occurs because of biases infected by the old Catholic church which desired that man have unfettered agency.

What most people also misunderstand is that no planets have power over our lives—that would be absurd—But instead what is happening is that since the Universe is based in mathematic principles of order, the same forces which put planets and other phenomena where they are and determine how they behave are reflected in their apparent behavior, so we can see those natural laws reflected back at us, for instance by the apparent retrograde motion of Mercury or other planets from our position here on Earth, which is relevant to our experience because spacetime is also Relative as established by Einstein's Principle of Relativity, where our actual position in spacetime is entirely consequential to our experience of it, so relativity is not simply something we see reflected in the apparent motion of planets through the sky but is literally part of the laws of cause and consequence and others which directly affect events and occurrences here on Earth and in our individual lives.

Among other phenomenal events, there is currently a parade of planets marching across the opposition to Uranus, including Mars, Mercury, the Sun, then Venus (as well as the Moon in a week's time), where Uranus is the planet of technology and revolution, such as fully embodied by phenomenons as cryptocurrency. But what further makes this moment so unique is that Mercury is also retrograding across the opposition, extending its "influence" across many weeks, and Mercury retrograde is so commonly known by the general public that most of you will have even heard that term. It is, however, greatly misunderstood, as retrogrades are not associated with chaos simply for the sake of it, but instead is a moment of pause, slowing, or resolution of already existing problems, such as the unjustified and manic elevation of cryptocurrency in the past, so cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin have been plummeting, and will likely continue to do so until well after the retrograde (because of it's "shadow period," which I will not get into right now).

This also comes at a time, however, when there are other absolutely enormous alignments that have been occurring, as all influences combine at any one time to create the unique set of circumstances from moment to moment, day to day, year to year, or century to century, and an opposition to Uranus is not always this monumental (although they can be seen in past similar aspects, including squares, trines, etc.), such as the recent Square of Saturn and Jupiter which always coincides with downturns in employment and the general economic productivity of the people as shown in the graphs and discussions in ULG in the chapter on World Events and Great Cycles. Additionally, we are also currently undergoing the conjunction of Saturn and Neptune which occurs only about every 36-37 years, which always coincides with great upheavals in governments, such as the last one of which occurred in 1989-1990 at the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Cold War Era, or the previous in 1952 with the ascension of President Eisenhower and the beginning of the Cold War. So the events of this crypto implosion are directly also related to the other alignments currently in motion which are transforming the current era, the end of the last and the beginning of the next, and the current volatility will likely get worse and last at least until the end of the current Mercury retrograde shadow period in the middle of December, but likely won’t recover until the next favorable influences to Uranus occur which, like the dot-com bust of the late 90s, might instead look like cryptocurrency taking on an actual useful form rather than simply a vehicle for speculation as it has been in its infancy.

Of course, the temptation for all users of astrology is to try to predict the future. But, like I discuss in Under a Libra God, this is not possible, and instead we can only see general influences coming our way, not precise prediction, and this desire is a futile attempt to control fate and destiny which none of us actually have the power to do, and choices and behaviors made in the desire to control the future will always be subverted to disappointment, because it’s nothing more than a delusion born of unresolved childhood fear and trauma, which instead must be resolved through the practice of Inventory as discussed in The Perfect Child and Fuck Portion Control.

One more thing—the personal implications of these large influences are also quite consequential, depending on your Sun sign. Right now Saturn and Neptune are currently retrograding their last few months in the sixth house of labors for the sign of Libra, which affects heath and work (I am a Libra, which is why I have had health problems since 2011 when Neptune first entered this house), and can be a very precarious time if we are not taking care of our health and bodies as demonstrated by the recent death of folk singer, Todd Snider, also a Libra, who died of pneumonia several days ago, or the beloved actress, Michelle Trachtenberg, who died of undiagnosed diabetes last year. I would also have died if I had not been lucky enough to happen across the work of Ray Peat and found and developed tools for taking care of my health over the last fourteen years, which is not an ability to control fate but instead surrendering to it and doing what was required of me rather than fighting fate and trying to control life.
